Motor vehicle insurance
Currently there are various types of motor vehicle insurance products available in the Australian market that you can choose from. In NSW apart from CTP greenslip, we strongly recommend that vehicle owners who drive on road must also obtain either Comprehensive Insurance cover or Third Party Property Damage Insurance cover depending on their individual circumstances. The price of an insurance cover depends on numerous factors such as key features of the policy and product issuer, your age, your driving history, your claims history and place where the vehicle is garaged.
Following different types of insurances are available for Motor vehicle insurance in Australia.
1. Third Party Property (TPP) or Third Party Property Damage (TPPD)
Covers the driver for someone else’s vehicle damage or property damage, so if you or the driver of the vehicle crashes into someone else and are at fault the other party’s (third party) vehicle damage expenses or repairs will be paid by your Insurer but your car damage expenses or repairs will not be covered under this type of policy thus if your car needs repairs, it will be your own out of pocket expense. 2. Third party Property Damage including fire and theft Insurance cover will be same as the TPP or TPPD (as mentioned above) but it will also include; a fire or theft coverage which will cover you in the event if your car/ vehicle gets stolen or catches a fire. 3. Comprehensive Insurance or Full Comprehensive Insurance – This type of motor vehicle insurance covers your car, and any damage your car may cause to anyone else’s car, vehicle or property and it will also cover for fire and theft. Note: We strongly recommend that you should either consult your financial adviser or insurance companies/agent/broker to discuss your insurance needs.
