RTA registration

It is compulsory to have a CTP greenslip insurance for your motor vehicle registration. A confirmation of your CTP greenslip insurance must be received by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) before registration in NSW.
Most light and heavy vehicles can be registered/renewed online through RTA website 24 hours a day online, Australia wide. To renew your registration online you will need:
  • Your Certificate of Registration renewal notice.
  • A passed e-Safety Check, from an e-Safety Station, if INSPECTION REQUIRED is printed on your renewal notice.
  • Renew your greenslip as usual. Most greenslips are sent electronically to the RTA by your insurer. Valid CTP greenslip insurance sent electronically to the RTA by your insurer.
  • A valid credit card or the ability to pay using BPAY.
  • Primary producers must be in possession of evidence required by the RTA.
